Young People’s Performance – “Music from Ecuador: Rio Mira Ensemble”

Monday, October 22, 2018 – 10:00am Performance
Music from Ecuador: Rio Mira Ensemble
Recommended Grades: 5th-12th

Named for the river dividing their respective countries, Río Mira brings together the Colombian musician Esteban Copete and Ecuadorian musician Karla Kanora and additional master folkloric musicians from the region. As an ensemble, Río Mira’s cultural identity is rooted in the Pacific Coast of Ecuador and Colombia, with the marimba playing a unifying role in the ensemble’s sound. This bi-national group specializes in crafting contemporary music with traditional sounds that date back hundreds of years.

School bus grants are available to help regional school districts bring their students to exhibitions, performances and other programs at the Quick Center.
