In a storytelling career that has spanned nearly four decades, Tim Sample has had plenty of opportunities to experience first-hand the deep, elemental and illuminating power of the spoken work. An avid collector of regional dialectal stories, he has become increasingly convinced that the “oral tradition,” with all its rich and complex variations, actually constitutes the oldest form of “publishing” still in existence within the human family. In this storytelling workshop, which aims to be informal and informative as well as entertaining, Sample invites participants to dig a little deeper into familiar folk tales, anecdotes and family stories, in an attempt to uncover the important messages passed down to us by generations long past.
