Revisiting the Founding Era: Phillis Wheatley

Phillis Wheatley was an 18th Century slave and writer. She has been know as one of the first African American women to become a published author.
Colgate University Professor Emeritus, Dr. Phillip Richards, will talk on the life and times of Phillis Wheatley in this historical presentation on revisiting the founding era.
Revisiting the Founding Era is a three-year national initiative of The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, presented in partnership with the American Library Association and the National Constitution Center, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
