Works by Gwendolyn Brown. Exhibit runs July 13 through August 24.
Art on Main Gallery, 100 West Main Street, Allegany, NY.
Gwendolyn Brown is an artist born and raised in Ellicottville, NY. The human figure is absent from her work; instead it is focused on banal objects. Brown explains, “Working with still life paintings has allowed me to examine how fabrics can show the way humans touch and handle materials in our daily routine actions. A pile of folded laundry, clothes in a closet, or an unmade bed; these all show marks of human absence. I aim to capture the way in which our bodies move and mark our personal spaces.”
