Local artists from the Art Start community art program have been putting their creative side to work since September. On May 6th and 7th, area residents will have an opportunity to see first-hand the beautiful results of that creativity and hard work during the 2nd annual Art Start
Community Art Show. Local artists will exhibit their works during a public showing in the Fredonia First United Methodist Church Community Room, 25 Church Street, Fredonia. The show runs Saturday, May 6th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday, May 7th from 11:00 am – Noon. There will be a reception during Saturday’s showing from Noon – 3:00 pm. A unique program, Art Start, gives local community members from all walks of life the opportunity to explore their artistic side. The program is an outreach ministry of the Fredonia First United Methodist Church and offers classes in drawing, watercolor, decorative acrylic, knitting, crocheting, card making and paper crafting. The program has a threefold purpose:
creativity, therapy, and mission. The majority of artists are beginners. An open invitation is extended to anyone interested in exploring the visual and textural arts, no prior experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and there is no financial cost to participate. All supplies have been donated or purchased through monetary donations.
