A celebration of the Scandinavian Culture with top dance band Donnez from Sweden, over 30 folk dancers including a team from Toronto, Jamestown Municipal Band with a concert of Scandinavian composers, traditional music by Svenska Spelman plus Sini and Anita from Toronto, and choir groups from Cleveland and Jamestown. In addition, enjoy the area’s first Finnish wife carrying contest where the winner receives the wife’s weight in beer, a petting zoo with Swedish pygmy goats, a midsummer pole celebration with community ring dancing, a Viking ship and Viking ax throwing, and a pepparkakor cookie baking contest, There is the opportunity to taste outstanding foods such as Swedish meatballs, korv, kaldolmar, Swedish yellow pea soup, fruit soup, rotmos, bruna boner (brown beans), lingonberry drink, and Norm’s famous korv burgers. Check out a lecture about the Swedish language and folk costumes, Jamestown’s Swedish meat markets, Vimmerby in Sweden from where many in our area emigrated, genealogy, the Vikings, or the Danish author Izak Dinesen’s “Out of Africa” book. See the exhibit of Scandinavian Folk Costumes, Scandinavian Dolls, and Carl Larsson prints. Vendors from all over Eastern US as well as local crafters will offer Scandinavian treasurers. Friday 7/15 from 1pm to 10pm | Saturday 7/16 from 10am to 10pm | Sunday 10am to 4pm.
