World Music with Rachel Bell

This is a three day program for children, grades 1-5, July 5, 6 & 7. Please call the library to register–space will be limited to 15 participants.

Join seasoned performer and NYS Certified Music Teacher Rachel Bell for a world music extravaganza! We’ll sample songs and dances from all over the planet, including a Russian lullabye, a Quebecois sea chanty, an Israeli folk dance, and an African singing game. We’ll even learn to sing songs in other languages! All of the children in attendance will have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, including dulcimers, drums, bells, boomwhackers, and more. As we visit each country, we’ll land a plane on a giant map, discussing geography and cultural traditions as we sing and play. Many layers of learning will blend seamlessly into piles of hands-on fun during this exciting, multi-cultural program.

The program is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program with support from Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council.
