The University Chorus and Encore Choir present their fall semester concert, “There is Sweet Music Here” featuring choral classics and popular songs featuring students and community members. The chorus is conducted by Rebecca Weaver Hamm, Adjunct Instructor of Voice, and accompanied by Mingren Huang, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music.

The program includes Mac Huff’s poignant arrangement of “Annie Laurie,” Daniel Gawthrop’s delicate setting of Tennyson’s poem “There is Sweet Music Here,” Randall Thompson’s “The Road Not Taken” from Frostiana, and Robert Ray’s gospel favorite “He Never Failed Me Yet.” The first part of the program closes with “A Parting Blessing” by J. Jerome Williams. The second part of the program opens with Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It.” The tenors and basses sing “1, 2, 3, 4” by the Plain White T’s. The sopranos and altos follow with Leslie Gore’s anthem “You Don’t Own Me,” and the concert closes with the Jackie Wilson hit “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.”

This family-friendly concert is open to all. Free admission.
