Presented with FREE admission as part of Freedonia Marxonia … For the third consecutive year, the Opera House is partnering with Freedonia Marxonia to screen a classic Marx Brothers movie. In keeping with this year’s theme of “Broadway and the Marx Brothers,” the film is The Cocoanuts, based on the Brothers’ 1925 Broadway musical of the same name. Released in 1929, this is the Marx Brothers’ first feature motion picture. At its original release, The Cocoanuts made it to Fredonia in January of 1930 when it was shown at the Winter Garden Theatre, which later became the 1891 Fredonia Opera House. Come see the film in the same theater as community members did 87 years ago.
