Bring your chair and blanket tor an evening of film at the Alfred Village Bandstand

This program will feature 13 shorts films (all under 10 minutes!) that were showcased at the inaugural Light Matter Film Festival in November 2021. Light Matter will return with a second edition in Fall 2022. The program is representative of Light Matter’s chief aim of bringing together contemporary experimental film and media art, highlighting work that ranges from hand-painted 16mm film, found footage, glitch, image-processing, and more. Each work also stands on its own, reflecting various artistic investigations into the people, objects, and environments that we inhabit.

Alfred University invites you into this immersive six-day festival MAKING MEANING IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD, designed to embrace the creativity of the community in collaboration with local and international visiting artist. During the day, participate in workshops hosted by an ensemble of world-renowned artists and join us in the evenings to gather together to watch site-specific performances, installations, and participatory projects.
