The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University in association with Friends of Good Music present “Music from Ecuador: Rio Mira Ensemble.”
Named for the river dividing their respective countries, Río Mira brings together the Colombian musician Esteban Copete and Ecuadorian musician Karla Kanora and additional master folkloric musicians from the region.
As an ensemble, Río Mira’s cultural identity is rooted in the Pacific Coast of Ecuador and Colombia, with the marimba playing a unifying role, both in the local culture and the ensemble’s unique sound.
This bi-national group specializes in crafting contemporary music with traditional sounds that date back hundreds of years.
This engagement of Rio Mira is made possible through Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, a program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
