In collaboration with the annual Freedonia Marxonia Festival, the Opera House will screen the Marx Brothers classic Duck Soup. The Freedonia Marxonia Festival celebrates the link between the village of Fredonia and this 1933 film, which is set in the mythical country of “Freedonia.” The Marx Brothers’ “greatest and funniest masterpiece,” Duck Soup is a short, non-stop, frenetic film filled with a number of delightfully hilarious moments, gags, fast-moving acts, double entendres, comedy routines, puns, pure silliness, zany improvisations, quips and insult-spewed lines of dialogue. Audience members are invited to dress as one of the Marx Brothers for this screening. And in true Freedonia Marxonia fashion, expect there to be a few surprises!
