Internationally acclaimed baritone Kenneth Overton takes his audience on a spiritual journey from the cotton fields to the concert hall.
Overton sings spirituals rooted in the African-American traditions including “Deep River,” “Ride on Jesus,” “I Got to Lie Down” and many others.
Raised in Philadelphia, Overton has traveled around the globe on the strength of his symphonious baritone voice. He is one of the most sought after opera singers of his generation, and has performed with some of the most prestigious opera companies and orchestral organizations in the world.
Accompanied by pianist Kevin Miller, this evening makes for a moving end to the Friends of Good Music season.
