For those of you who are planning what to do in beautiful Allegany County this summer, From the Earth is not to be missed. This will be its tenth year of presenting a free event that celebrates rural living. A large variety of presentations and activities at six locations around Alfred, NY will include popular favorites like the bird walk at Foster Lake, gardens and garden talks, a timber framing shop, and an organic dairy farm. Every year new ideas are presented. Come and learn how to turn a wooden bowl, make Swiss cheese, or rag rug braiding techniques. The Southern Tier Fiber Arts Guild will be doing demonstrations throughout the day involving spinning, weaving, knitting, and felting. Kids activities at the Alfred State Farm Garden will include story telling and how to make unique upcycled planters.
