Fredonia Jazz Festival

Presented in Partnership with the Fredonia Jazz Society

The Fredonia Jazz Festival returns in October after a year’s absence. Presented by the Fredonia Jazz Society, it will be held over three days at multiple indoor venues, including the Opera House.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19 …

The first event of the Festival is also the first date in the new four-event Jazz at Domus Fare series, which occurs over the course of the year.  Domus Fare seatings are at 5:30pm and 8pm, with doors opening approximately 30 minutes before. A specialized menu and service of beer and wine are offered by the restaurant.

Nick Finzer Quartet: Finzer, trombone, Miki Yamanaka, piano, Raul Reyes, bass, TJ Reddick, drums. Two shows: 5:30 and 8 pm.  Domus Fare Restaurant, 41 W. Main Street, Fredonia. $50.

Nick Finzer is an award-winning composer, arranger, producer and trombonist who brings joy and passion to the world of jazz. He is currently on the faculty of the University of North Texas.  Finzer will be backed by an international trio: Japanese-born pianist MIki Yamanaka, Cuban-born bassist, Raul Reyes, and New York City’s TJ Reddick on drums.  All these performers are at the top of today’s American jazz scene.

Nicole Zuraitis is not your average jazz singer.  “A heart full of soul, and voice full of sunshine,” writes All About Jazz.  Jane Monheit calls her “One of my favorite vocalists. She has a gorgeous and capable instrument that can be conversational one moment and then soar to the heavens the next.  This is a rare and beautiful thing,” Nicole will be joined on stage by Idan Morim on guitar, Sam Weber on bass, and Dan Pugach drums.

The Nick Weiser Sextet will open the show with some of our favorite Fredonia Jazz Society musicians:  Kieran Hanlon, John Bacon, Elliot Scozzaro, Mark Filsinger, and Brendan Lanighan.
