The David A. Howe Public Library is please to welcome Gaitrie “Devi” Subryan of Devi Bollywood Performing Arts and her dance troupe to the Nancy Howe Auditorium stage.
Ambitious, community oriented and creative, Gaitrie Subryan danced her way into the Western New York Community seven years ago. Gaitrie noticed the lack of Bollywood dance classes in the area. With her training and experience she decided to jump in, actually she LEAPED in, giving the community the ability to travel to another part of the world. Rooted in her culture and upbringings she fell in love with dance while sitting in her family living room in the Bronx and watching Bollywood films with her grandmother and parents.
Gaitrie is the founder and Artistic Director of Devi Bollywood Performing Arts in Buffalo NY. Her love and passion for Indian dance prompted her to create Buffalo’s first Bollywood Performance Troupe. Devi Bollywood Performing Arts continues to provide a platform for dance in the Western New York area.
Devi Bollywood Performing Arts will dazzle audience members with their passionate energy and technique. The selections of pieces chosen by Gaitrie for this performance puts audiences in touch with some of the richest, deepest works she has choreographed. It shows off the radiance of the dancers Cortney Costanzo and Holli Simme, and introduces everyone to the new solo performance by Gaitrie, which has its roots in Kathak dance. We hope you join us for an evening of entertainment, history and education
Gaitrie, Courtney, and Holli from Devi Bollywood Performing Arts will be performing in the Nancy Howe Auditorium of the David A. Howe Public Library in Wellsville NY on Thursday, November 10th at 7pm. The program is admission free and open to everyone.
