Principal flutist in the New York Youth Symphony, Aimee Toner is a junior at Barnard College pursuing a double major in Ethnomusicology and Economics. She is also in the Manhattan School of Music Lesson Exchange. Toner has performed in numerous esteemed ensembles and venues along the East Coast. She has led in orchestral settings by playing principal, piccolo, and assistant parts for the New York Youth Symphony, the Columbia University Orchestra, the American Youth Orchestra, and the Columbia Pops Orchestra. Aimee was the principal flutist for the New York Youth Symphony for their 2017/18 season and performed in Carnegie Hall three times with the ensemble. After winning the 2017 Columbia University Orchestra Concerto Competition, Toner made her solo debut performing “Poem for Flute and Orchestra” by Charles T. Griffes with the Columbia University Orchestra at Symphony Space this past April. Ms. Toner has performed chamber and ensemble works in Weill Recital Hall and Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall, the Rose Room and Alice Tully at Lincoln Center, The Italian Academy of Columbia University, and Symphony Space. www.aimeetonerflute.com
